Park regulations for the East German Rose Garden in Forst (Lausitz)
Dear Visitors,
The East German Rose Garden is a monument to garden art. To ensure that this site can remain open to visitors in the future, please observe the following:
It is not permitted to:
- Drive any vehicles in the park or to park on Weir Island. This does not apply to delivery vehicles.
- Use bicycles or other motorised modes of transport (e.g. e-scooters) on pathways. Balance bikes, pushchairs, wheelchairs and walking frames are permitted.
- Exception: Cycling at walking pace is permitted in the Weir Island and Brushwood Weir Island sections of the park.
- Damage, remove or otherwise contaminate or deface any facilities, structures or other park features.
- Throw away or leave behind waste of any kind.
- Make films or take photographs for commercial purposes without authorisation.
- Use drones or other remote-controlled devices.
- Remove or damage plants, enter flower beds or climb trees or on structural features or horticultural installations.
- Contaminate, enter, fish or bathe in water features or fountains.
- Erect, remove or move advertising, signs, labels or suchlike.
- Play or make music.
- Camp, light fires, or barbecue.
- Engage in trade or commerce.
- Hold demonstrations.
- Carry blunt or sharp weapons of any kind or objects that may be used to cut or stab, glass bottles, pressurised gas containers, spray cans or any other containers with substances that are harmful to health.
Exceptions to the above points are only possible with the consent of Park Management.
Please note:
- Visitors enter the park at their own risk. Their attention will be drawn to broken branches and dangers relating to severe weather events.
- The lawns in the Rose Park may only be accessed to view the roses.
- Sitting, lying, playing and picnicking on the lawns is expressly desired and permitted on the Weir Island and the Brushwood Weir Island.
- Dogs must be kept on a short lead throughout the park and dog waste must be removed immediately.
- The town of Forst (Lausitz) or the respective event organiser or third party commissioned by the town of Forst (Lausitz) or the respective event organiser has the right to carry out security and admission checks. These include the right to inspect legwear and outer clothing and to check bags and similar containers. Should visitors refuse to allow such checks, they may be denied access to the park, with no entitlement to a refund of the admission fee!
- Instructions given by staff must be followed at all times.
- Visitors acknowledge the park regulations when they enter the park grounds.
Further information:
- The park is under video surveillance.
- Photography for private purposes is permitted. However, please be considerate of other visitors when making videos and audio recordings. The photographer is always responsible for ensuring all rights are protected, including those of third parties (e.g. copyright and personal rights).
- It is pointed out to visitors when they enter the grounds that photographs, films and television recordings may be made and distributed for documentation purposes, for general public relations work and for the press, radio and other media, particularly during events, without any possibility to assert claims.
- Legal guardians are obliged to supervise the children in their care during the entirety of their stay in the park.
- The water in the wells and fountains in the park is not suitable for drinking.
- Only limited winter services (snow clearance and gritting) are performed in the park.
- No liability can be assumed for items left in locked storage facilities (e.g. the luggage lockers or bike boxes).
- From May until September, the Rose Park can only be accessed with a valid admission ticket. Visitors not in possession of a ticket during this time will be banned from the premises and charges will be brought (Section 265a of the German Criminal Code (Strafgesetzbuch, StGB) on fraudulently obtaining services without payment).
- The park is open all year round. The turnstile on Paul-Högelheimer-Straße may be used to leave the park outside of the opening hours.

The opening hours are subject to change in case of special events, severe weather warnings or extreme weather events.
Legal information:
- The park regulations are based on the house rules of the town of Forst (Lusatia) as the owner of the park. Violations of the park regulations may result in visitors being ordered to leave the park and/or banned from entering it in the future and possibly also claims for damages.
- Anyone who violates the provisions of the park regulations commits an administrative offence and can be issued with a warning or fined up to €1,000, in accordance with the law on administrative offences.
Entry into force:
These park regulations enter into force on 1 March 2025.
